privacy policy

last updated September 10, 2026

sakoon is built to help you spend less time on your phone, not more. we collect as little as we can, and what you write stays with you.

this policy explains what information sakoon ("we", "us") collects when you use the sakoon app or visit sakoon.ai, how we use it, and the choices you have. by using the app or the site, you agree to the practices described here. if you do not agree, please do not use sakoon.

what stays on your device

your journal entries never leave your phone. everything you write in the journal, whether a weekly reflection or a blank page, is stored only on your device. we cannot read it, back it up, or recover it. if you delete the app, your entries are deleted with it.

we do not use artificial intelligence to read, summarize, or analyze your entries in this version of sakoon. if we ever offer an optional reflection feature that processes what you write, it will be off by default, clearly explained, and you will choose whether to turn it on.

what we collect

to run the app and keep your progress, we collect a small amount of information:

what we do not do

how we use what we collect

we use your information to provide the app, keep your account and practice data in sync, process your subscription, send you the reminders you turn on, respond when you contact us, and understand in aggregate how sakoon is used so we can improve it. we may also use it to protect the security of the app and comply with the law.

who we share it with

we work with a small number of service providers who help us run sakoon. they only receive what they need to do their job and may not use it for anything else:

we may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect the rights or safety of sakoon or its users, or as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of the company. if that happens, this policy will continue to apply to your information.

your choices

how long we keep it

consumer health data

some states, including Washington, have laws about "consumer health data," which can include information about mental health and stress. sakoon is not a health service and does not collect medical records, but your practice data (which loops you complete and when) could be considered consumer health data under those laws. so, to be clear:

children

sakoon is for people aged 13 and older. if you are under 18, you should use sakoon with a parent or guardian's permission. we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. if you believe a child under 13 has created an account, please email us and we will remove it.

security

we use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections and access controls. no method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

where your data lives

sakoon is operated from the United States and our service providers store data there. if you use sakoon from elsewhere, you understand your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States.

california residents

if you live in California, you have the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use it, to request that we delete it, and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. we do not sell or share personal information for advertising. to make a request, email us at the address below.

changes to this policy

we may update this policy as sakoon grows. when we do, we will change the date at the top and, for meaningful changes, let you know in the app. continuing to use sakoon after a change means you accept the updated policy.
